This year, the ¡°Hong Kong WinterFest¡± promotion, organised by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) from 23 November 2012 to 1 January 2013, will see a festive array of programmes. One of the most eye-catching is ¡°A Brilliant Tiffany Holiday¡±, which turns Statue Square, in the heart of Hong Kong Island, into a romantic ¡°Christmas town¡± with an iconic six-storey tall Christmas tree and a carousel.
Entering its 11th staging, Hong Kong WinterFest this year has taken the theme ¡°Love Christmas – Love Hong Kong¡±. HKTB Chairman The Hon James Tien said: ¡°Hong Kong¡¯s winter is famous for its rich holiday atmosphere, which makes it the perfect vacation destination during the holiday season. Leveraging Hong Kong WinterFest as a promotional platform, the HKTB has once again lined up a series of activities to attract more visitors, especially young adults and families from short-haul markets, to spend their holiday in Hong Kong.¡±
Ms Diana Hui, Managing Director of Tiffany & Co., Hong Kong and Macau, which is the sponsor of ¡°A Brilliant Tiffany Holiday¡±, said: ¡°We are proud to have the honour to hold the Christmas celebration for the second consecutive year. May the ¡®Brilliant Tiffany Holiday¡¯ be one of the warmest Christmas moments for all Hong Kong residents and visitors.¡±
¡°A Brilliant Tiffany Holiday¡± will feature two centrepieces, an 18-metre tall (about six storeys) Christmas tree and a merry-go-round. In addition, there will be a Santa¡¯s House, Bridge of True Love, Tiffany Candy Shop and Tiffany Funland, allowing visitors and local residents to take part in a number of activities, such as photo-taking, sending greeting cards, buying seasonal confectionery and making Christmas crafts. A proportion of the proceedings will be donated to Helping Hand to aid the elderly.
Meanwhile, a number of major local attractions and shopping malls, including Hong Kong Disneyland, Hong Kong Wetland Park, Madame Tussauds Hong Kong, Ngong Ping 360, Noah¡¯s Ark Hong Kong, Ocean Park Hong Kong, sky100 Hong Kong Observation Deck, 1881 Heritage, Harbour City, ifc mall, New Town Plaza and Times Square, will roll out over 30 different programmes and other special offers to enrich the winter experience of visitors in town.
To let more visitors know about this enticing promotion, the HKTB has partnered with the travel trade in various source markets to develop itineraries and other tourism products
themed on Hong Kong WinterFest. Overseas media will also be invited on familiarisation visits to get a taste of Hong Kong¡¯s winter and promote it to their viewers or readers.
