Art Cologne opens today for VIPs (Professional Preview 12pm - 8 pm and Vernissage 4pm - 8pm) and Ben Brown Fine Arts is thrilled to be returning for the tenth consecutive year to Art Cologne (
Stand B-025, Hall 11.2).
We will be presenting two new works by American artist
Ena Swansea. Many of Swanseas canvases are primed with a distinctive graphite mixture, which creates a reflective surface and gives her works a notably cinematic perspective. The layering of acrylic, oil and graphite allows her works to transfix space and time, the metallic ground changing with the light and imbuing her paintings with an ephemeral luminosity and transparency.
Territorial Waters, Yoan Capote's first exhibition in our Hong Kong gallery has now open edits doors. The paintings present varying convergences of sea and sky, thousands of tiny fishhooks piercing the canvases to create rhythmic waters amidst thickly impastoed surfaces with bands of sky ranging from blood red to midnight blue. Were thrilled to present a brand new fishhook painting from Capotes
Isla series at Art Cologne, as well as his
Laboratorio installation.
New paintings and photographs by
Awol Erizku, which take key political symbols and historical iconography whilst sampling from the urban fabric of his surroundings. In advance of his upcoming exhibition in London in June,
Vik Muniz will present three unique works from his
Handmade series, which are a result of a hybrid process combining manual, or artisanal treatment and high-resolution digital photography.
Our booth at Art Cologne will feature a special presentation of work by
Julian Charrière. Here we will present Charrières exceptional
Love-In-Tambora sculpture and two photographs from his series
An Invitation to Disappear which offer a poignant reflection and vital commentary on the effects of mankind on the Earths precious and fleeting resources, and how rapidly our cultural and geological landscapes are shifting.
